Some Facts About The Iconic Film Maker Of Assam Late Abdul Majid!


Today again we loosed one of the most versatile film maker of Assam.He was suffering from Cardiac arrest and was admitted to GNRC hospital Guwahati.

His contribution to assamese cinema is truly a praiseworthy.Besides being a popular actor ,he was a great director.His work to assamese cinema is incredible and will be remembered for his work forever and ever.

Born in jorhat in 1931,Majid started his career in theatres in 1950 at his own hometown.

So Lets discuss about some of his unknown facts that one must know:

1.His movie Chameli memsaab for which Bhupen hazarika won the National award was awarded with Rajat kamal in 23rd National film festival as the best film in assamese language.

2.Majid first started his career in celluloid through “Ronga police” in 1957.

3.He was honoured as  the best director award in multilingual drama competition held in New Delhi in 1971.

4.He was awarded with best director award for Assamese television serial “Namghoria”.

5.In 1996 Assam government conferred him with prestigious Bishnu prasad Rabha Award.Apart from that he was also honoured  by the Assam sahitya sabha and The Assam Tribune group.

If we discuss about his awards there is a never ending list.In short we can sum up with a conclusion that we loosed a true gems of assam who proud represented assam in national level.We can say that its an end of an era.May his departed soul rest in peace.
